Captive Thoughts Part 2

In Captive Thoughts Part 1 I talked about our thoughts being worldly and if we are full of Christ’s love and His word we can fight off those negative thoughts. Therefore, not allowing them to take us captive.

In this blog post, Captive Thoughts 2, I am going to open with the following question; what happens when the ultimate antagonist shows up in our lives and in our heads?

“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.’”

Revelation 12:11 NASB

Many try to avoid the whole idea of Satan, but like it or not he is real and in our world. Avoidance never helps, I challenge you to not hide from your enemy, but to learn about him. When the time comes to face what you’ve been avoiding all along, the best way to do so is by being prepared.

But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3

2 Corinthians warns of us the possibility of  Satan deceiving us and leading our minds away from God. Just like he did to Eve in the garden of eden, tempting her with the apple. He made her question God’s word;

Now the serpentwas more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?”

Genesis 3:1

Rather than avoiding Satan we should prepare our minds and be ready to face him head on when he comes. With God on our side there is nothing to fear! We can kick Satan right out of our heads and to the curb. *Pow Pow*

First, we need to prep our main weapon, the word.

“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

James 4:7

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Luke 10:12

Second, we need to understand our thoughts. I have often thought, “well how do I know if this is God talking to me or if this thought is from God?” Dig into the word and if what you are hearing lines up with God’s word than it is from God. Satan will try to trick you just like he did Eve, but you will know because he will take God’s word and twist it. He will make you question did God really mean or say those things. The doubt you feel is Satan playing his games. Cast the doubt out and dive into the word. The word tells you exactly what God says.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

1 Peter 5: 8-9

And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.”

Romans 16:20

God is the ultimate victor, Satan can play a mean game BUT he can never beat God! Do not let him beat you. Build your relationship with God and whenever Satan tries to touch you, he will be burned.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world

1 John 4:4

This is Satan’s world, but Heaven is our eternity ❤️  God had a plan all along to send his only son to die on the cross for the sin Satan brought into the world. Through His sacrifice and relationship with Him we are saved. Check mate Satan *mic drop*.
